This thesis aimed to create a comprehensive parent handbook for Finnish American Kindergarten Töölö 2, an English-language early childhood education centre in Helsinki. The process of the development work began in January 2025 and was completed in April 2025.
The literature supporting the development work focuses on early childhood education and collaboration with guardians. The methods included reviewing existing materials, conducting a survey, holding fast-interview with parents, and organizing a small-group discussion with ECEC professionals. The data collected through these methods guided the content and structure of the handbook.
The outcome is a parent handbook tailored to the needs of the daycare and its families. The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the result, and the handbook now serves as a valuable resource that supports communication, trust, and partnership between the daycare and guardians.
