Tiivistelmä
The aim of this thesis is to design and ultimately produce a steering rack for Tampere Formula Student teams 2025 vehicle. This thesis has design work based on the teams 2024 vehicle, which then works as a base for the 2025 vehicle. This base provides limitations and insight to the starting of the 2025 project.
The thesis explains steering principles in relation to system level design regarding steering and gear design, with basic principles in gear design, mechanical design and in scope validation. The functional design sets goals and limits for the system, with the mechanical design producing designs which conform to these goals as much as possible. Ultimately the mechanical design provides the best solution for a system, with the given limitations and goals. Validation is done by comparison to exiting solutions, with finite element analysis and a testing season later in 2025.
