Tiivistelmä
The aim and objective of this thesis are to improve patients overall knowledge on osteoporosis. As this work is also to be read by healthcare and future healthcare professionals (my opponent, supervisor teacher and client), this thesis will be in two parts: the thesis “itself” (mostly for my peers and teachers) and the guidebook (for my client). Both of those parts will be focused on a physiotherapy point of view.
Even thought less detailed in the guidebook, current nutrition knowledge was much developed during the thesis. Indeed, while less obviously related to physiotherapy field at first view, it is actually a major element to associate with exercises levels, in order to ensure sufficient energy levels and adaptation possibilities. Insufficient or improper energy intakes, which are common in elderlies, might impact negatively bone health, especially bone mineral density, when associated with an active or inactive lifestyle. Therefore, patient education on this point was deemed as important in the thesis and guidebook.
