Tiivistelmä
The subject of the thesis is traditional Japanese Kintsugi technique. I explore the philosophical meaning behind it, talk about the therapeutic properties of this technique and the connection with meditation practices. The idea for this work came from a very personal situation.
I challenged myself in creating a Kintsugi piece, using a simple and affordable version of the traditional technique. The materials that were employed are golden acrylic paint, a ceramic piece, waterproof agent (glue). It took some time to select the right piece of pottery. I didn’t want to buy anything new for sustainability reasons, so I looked for the piece in different second-hand and flea markets.
The result of the project is an approx. 10 cm high Kintsugi piece. The diameter is 10 cm.
