Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the concept of landscape within my artistic practice, addressing the questions: How can landscape be defined? What psychological impact does it have, and can it hold political significance? The key focus is to understand why landscape, as a subject, resonates deeply in my work.
The term “landscape” is used here to refer to natural scenes, distinct from cultural landscapes. The thesis presents three artistic works- Hietainen, Fragments from a Journey (or Several), and Harz—which are examined in relation to the creative process and artistic decisions. By integrating personal memory with landscape perception, the work explores how these elements shape our emotional and sensory experiences of nature.
Ultimately, this thesis seeks to enhance our understanding of how art, memory, and landscape perception are interconnected and shape the way we experience the natural world.
