The thesis studied the need of training and development in the multi-cultural working environment in the restaurant industry. The growing importance of multiculturalism in the workplace and the need for the right sort of training programs to overcome its complexities were examined in this thesis explored the challenges and advantages of diversity; it stressed the necessity of training in order to promote inclusion, improve communication, and build a good workplace culture.
This study tried to identify what the training need is in multicultural restaurant environment and also to analyse how training can affect the employee satisfaction and motivation. The quantitative research methodology was used with the help of structured questionnaires to obtain the data from the employees of four restaurants in Helsinki. A multicultural setting was the area of interest, and the study included non-managerial employees and involved the training needs and the training experiences of the employees.
The research results indicated the significance of training and development programs in multicultural workplaces. Among the key findings were the need for cultural sensitivity training, language training, and communication skills training to overcome miscommunication, cultural misunderstandings and the like. The study also showed that training has a positive effect on employee motivation and confidence.
