Tiivistelmä
Samat Nordic is a French-based tank trucking company operating in Finland. The operative leading and the
traffic planning team have a lot of liabilities with customers, drivers and planning itself. Due to this complex
and large set of data and information flow, it was reasonable to evaluate whether the company can benefit
from the automation technology or not. The research was conducted as a qualitative research.

The object was to search and compare different types of artificial intelligence algorithms that could be the
most beneficial for Samat. When the most efficient algorithms were identified, the weak points that the
company thinks are the most crucial were be mapped out. Defining of the points of improvements were
done by conducting interviews for upper management. From the two separate interviews, the most nota ble point of improvement stood out to be communication. This point for the improvement was verified in a
form of questionnaire for the planning team, consisting of questions regarding the different aspects of
communication. According to the results, these two aspects of the qualitative data gathering methods re vealed that the option of improvement was correct and needed.

As from the results, it was noted that there is space for enhancement in the information and data flow.
When the chosen artificial intelligence algorithms and their capabilities were matched to the profile of the
challenges, the idea of an ordering portal was created. An ordering system based on machine learning al lows the planning team of the company to have more visible tasks, since they can be found from the same
place where they can be seen by everyone. The system would also have an update-board for the changes in
the cargo. By implementing an artificial intelligence supported ordering system based on these points, the
processes of the operative planning and leading team can be streamlined due to the tasks being more ac cessible, efficient and visible. When the planning sector makes more dynamic decisions, it is also more prof itable for the company. Taking all these factors into account, it was noted that Samat can utilize artificial
intelligence in its day-to-day actions to sustain its competitiveness, flexibility and performance.
