Akut konfusion i hemvården: en scoping review gjord för att ta reda på vad man bör veta för att förebygga och upptäcka ett allvarligt tillstånd

Abstract

Akut konfusion är ett livsfarligt förvirringstillstånd med försämring av uppmärksamhet eller kognition som utvecklas över timmar till dagar. Risken att drabbas ökar med åldern. Vården bör centreras till förebyggande, tidig diagnostisering och behandling av den bakomliggande orsaken. Examensarbetet vänder sig till olika yrkesgrupper som arbetar med vård i hemmet och syftet var att ge en djupare förståelse för vad som är viktigt i en helhetssyn på behandling och omvårdnad för den drabbade. Valet av metod föll på en scoping review efter att sökandet bland tidigare forskning i ämnet var begränsat.

Som teoretisk utgångspunkt valde skribenten att utgå från Betty Neumans vårdteori och jämförde hennes teori med resultatet. Resultatet säger att det finns flera sätt hur man kan upptäcka och förebygga akut konfusion i hemvården. Tidig upptäckt och förebyggande behandling visar sig vara tydliga inverkande faktorer. Anhörigas roll är även av stor betydelse.

Examensarbetet riktar sig till olika yrkesgrupper som ger vård i hemmen och förhoppningsvis med kunskapen härifrån lättare kunna förstå vad som är viktigt i en helhetsinriktad behandling och omvårdnad för den drabbade.

Acute confusional state is a life-threatening condition that significantly reduces the ability to sustain focus or cognition, and risks developing from mere hours to days. The chances of being affected increases with age. Care should be centered around prevention, early diagnosis, and the treatment of any underlying cause. This thesis is aimed at different professional groups working within home care and the purpose was to provide a deeper understanding of what is important to observe in comprehensive views of treatment and care for the affected. The scoping review method was selected since previous research on the subject is still limited.

The author of this thesis selected Betty Neuman’s theory of care as a theoretical framework and compared her findings to the results of a scoping review. According to the results, there are several ways to discover and prevent acute confusion in home care. Early discovery and preventive treatment are clearly effective factors. The roles of relatives are also of great significance.

This thesis is aimed at different professional groups providing home care and hopefully, through the results presented in this thesis, healthcare providers will be able to more easily understand what is important in providing comprehensive and directed care for the affected.
