This thesis explores how scale-up companies in dynamic sectors like electronics refurbishment can build project management excellence through tailored frameworks. Using Swappie as a case study, the research applies an action research approach to design, test, and refine a scalable and agile project management framework. Drawing on stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and a live automation deployment project, the study identifies the limitations of informal project practices and proposes a hybrid Agile-Waterfall methodology adapted to Swappie’s unique operational context. The final framework incorporates tools like RACI matrices, visual process maps, and governance checkpoints to address challenges such as unclear ownership, poor task transitions, and fragmented communication. Findings show the value of participatory co-design in creating practical solutions and underscore the importance of leadership alignment and cultural integration in ensuring sustained adoption. The thesis contributes actionable insights for scale-ups aiming to operationalise strategy through effective project delivery.
