Tiivistelmä
In this thesis, I would like to study about the experience of signing on a new vessel. Since I went to on board training in so many different vessels, I started to have questions about feelings, preparations, experiences and familiarization of the new vessels. Every time when the crew are signing on new vessel, they must study the details of the new vessel. Their feelings might vary regarding different ships. They can be excited, scared, happy or stressed. And with all of these feelings, they can cope with the feelings by accumulating the experiences during the work on vessel. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to research and study about 7 rating position and 3 officers regarding their feelings and preparations before signing on a new vessel.
The thesis was researched based on interview questions. I prepared some questions to know about the feelings and preparations of the crew and officers. After getting the responses from them, I analyzed the results and reached the conclusions.
The interviews were successful. As what we have found in the interview questions, majority of the crew and officers felt excited but stressful when signing on to the new vessel. They need to also do research for the vessel beforehand and make sure they have got every documents on board before getting on board.
