Tiivistelmä
The thesis aimed to research how and why agile and scrum methods are used in the biggest Finnish game companies with over 100 employees. In addition to this, the author wanted to find out what kind of different game production practices these game companies utilize. The objective of the thesis was to study how the previous study on these topics reflected the findings from a study they conducted.

A literature review was done to understand what kind of previous research had been done about this subject from the perspective of the Finnish game industry. Google Scholar was utilized, and different keywords were used to find this previous research. The sources from Google Scholar were then studied through a thematic analysis which helped the author to highlight recurring topics that were found in the previous research papers. The author conducted a study for game producers from the biggest Finnish game companies. For the study, the author contacted producers to understand why and how they use agile and scrum methods in their game development and what kind of advantages and constraints they have faced in using them.

The study showed that the previous research on using scrum and agile methods in game production in Finland reflects the results of the survey. Like in the previous research, these methods have both advantages and constraints. The role of a producer in Finnish game companies has changed during the decades but the thesis confirmed the role’s importance in the production process.
