Tiivistelmä
Pilvipalvelualustat ja niiden tarjoamat palvelut ovat muuttaneet IT-alan yritysten ja ihmisten toimintatapoja pysyvästi. Pilvipalveluiden merkityksen kasvaessa myös niiden vertailu on noussut tärkeään osaan niin yrityksille kuin yksityishenkilöille, jotka haluaisivat hyödyntää uuden teknologian tarjoamat mahdollisuudet tehokkaasti.
Opinnäytetyössä käsiteltiin kahta suurinta pilvipalvelualustaa Microsoft Azurea ja Amazon Web Serviceä ja selvitettiin niiden tarjoamien palveluiden keskeisiä ominaisuuksia ja niiden eroja keskenään.
Työn ensimmäisessä osassa selvitettiin mitä ovat pilvipalvelualustat ja mitkä ovat niiden keskeisimmät palvelut ja niiden ominaisuudet. Työssä pyrittiin vertailemaan keskenään samankaltaisia palveluita ja niiden käyttötarkoituksia.
Toisessa osassa käytiin läpi alustojen välisiä eroja ja suoritettiin tiivistetty kokoonpanovertailu hyödyntämällä palvelualustojen hinta-laskureita sekä dokumentaatiosta saatua tietoa.
Tutkimus suoritettiin kuvailevan kirjallisuuskatsauksen keinoin ja työn tiedonhankinta tehtiin hyödyntämällä palveluntarjoajien julkisesti saatavilla olevaa koulutusmateriaalia ja tietoa sekä muista lähteistä saatua tietoa.
Tutkimuksen tuloksena saatiin laaja katsaus kahden suurimman pilvipalvelualustan tarjoamiin palveluihin, niiden hinnoitteluun ja ominaisuuksiin sekä selvitettiin mitä eroja toistensa kanssa samanlaisten palveluiden välillä on.
Johtopäätöksenä voitiin todeta, että jatkuvasti kehittyvässä pilvipalveluiden markkinassa on palvelualustojen ja palveluiden vertailu paitsi työlästä myös välttämätöntä, sillä tieto vanhentuu nopeasti ja palveluiden kehittyessä jatkuvasti on yritysten yhä vaikeampaa pysyä kehityksessä mukana. Cloud Service Platforms and the Services They Offer Have Permanently Changed the Way Businesses and Individuals Operate in the IT Industry
As the significance of cloud services continues to grow, comparing these services has become increasingly important for both companies and private individuals who wish to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies.
This thesis focused on the two largest cloud service platforms, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, and examined the key features of the services they offer, as well as the differences between them.
The first part of the thesis explained what cloud service platforms are and identified their most essential services and features. The goal was to compare similar services and their intended uses.
The second part examined the differences between the platforms and included a compact configuration comparison using the price calculators provided by the platforms and information obtained from their documentation.
The research was conducted as a descriptive literature review, and data collection was based on publicly available training materials and information from the service providers, as well as other relevant sources.
As a result, the study provided a comprehensive overview of the services, pricing, and features of the two largest cloud service platforms, and clarified the differences between similar services they offer.
The conclusion stated that in the constantly evolving cloud service market, comparing platforms and ser-vices is not only laborious but also essential, as information becomes outdated quickly. As services continue to develop, it becomes increasingly difficult for companies to keep up with the pace of change.
Opinnäytetyössä käsiteltiin kahta suurinta pilvipalvelualustaa Microsoft Azurea ja Amazon Web Serviceä ja selvitettiin niiden tarjoamien palveluiden keskeisiä ominaisuuksia ja niiden eroja keskenään.
