Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores how digital job search platforms and career development tools influence the integration of international students into Finnish society, with a specific focus on professional inclusion during the transition from academia to employment. Despite Finland’s growing emphasis on attracting and retaining international talent, many students face challenges including language barriers, under-recognition of foreign qualifications, cultural dissonance, and limited access to tailored support services. The research adopts a qualitative approach, drawing on thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews conducted with international students at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. The findings reveal that while digital tools such as LinkedIn and TE Services offer valuable resources; their effectiveness is constrained by structural issues like Finnish language requirements and weak linkages between universities and employers. Participants also reported psychological strain due to job market exclusion and proposed enhancements to digital platforms, including AI-based CV tools and culturally tailored interview preparation systems. This study contributes to a nuanced understanding of digital integration strategies and calls for a coordinated ecosystem involving universities, employers, and policymakers to maximize the impact of digital solutions. The thesis offers practical recommendations for enhancing international students ’ employability, social belonging, and overall integration into Finnish working life through digital innovation.
