Establishing an effective budgeting system for JUVIR Oy

Budgeting is an important part of running any business, especially for smaller companies that need to plan their money carefully. For companies like JUVIR Oy, which sells disposable and eco-friendly packaging products, budgeting is even more important because their sales go up and down depending on the season. This thesis focuses on creating a simple and useful budgeting tool that helps the company better plan for the future and manage its finances.
The main goal of this project was to build an easy-to-use and affordable Excel template that supports yearly budgeting. The tool was made to replace the old way of budgeting, which was done manually and without much planning. This project focused only on building a budget tool and did not include larger systems like ERP software because of cost and time limits.
The theory part of the thesis explains the basics of budgeting, such as what a master budget is, how sales and expenses are planned, and how businesses check if their budget matches what really happened. The theory comes from well-known accounting books and was chosen to match the needs of a small company like JUVIR Oy.
To create the tool, the current budgeting method was first reviewed. Interviews were then held with the company to understand what kind of tool would help them most. After this, the budgeting template was made in Microsoft Excel and improved through a few different versions based on the company’s feedback. The work was done between January and May 2025.
The result is a practical budgeting tool that helps the company plan sales, estimate costs, and see if they are on track financially. It’s simple, clear, and can be used daily without needing special software. In the future, the tool could be made even better by connecting it directly to the company’s bank or accounting systems. For now, it gives JUVIR Oy a better way to manage money and plan for growth.
