Tiivistelmä
This thesis examines how social media affects Government Elementary School Gulshanabad pupils' academic performance. Investigating how students' time management, study habits, mental health, and general academic performance vary depending on social media use is the main goal of this study. With an eye towards a fair assessment of social media's influence in contemporary education, the study looks at both its advantages and drawbacks for students' academic life.

This thesis's theoretical framework comprises studies on the emergence of social media platforms, their advantages and drawbacks for education, and the psychological impacts of digital participation on students. The research combines important hypotheses on how social media affects academic achievement, student behaviour, and mental health into one to offer a whole knowledge of the subject.

Data collecting in this study took a quantitative method. Thirty-two Government Elementary School Gulshanabad students participated in surveys covering their social media use patterns, study habits, time management abilities, and opinions of how social media affected their academic achievement. To spot trends, connections, and insights, the data was examined using statistical methods and qualitative research approaches.

The study's findings expose a complicated link between social media use and academic achievement. Although social media may be used as an instructional tool by means of cooperation and access to educational materials, overuse of it results in distractions, procrastination, and less attention, therefore compromising students's academic performance. The study comes to the conclusion that students must create better plans for controlling their usage of social media if they are to maximise its educational advantages while reducing its disruptive consequences on their academics.
