This thesis was carried out at the request of Bocks Corner Brewery, a small craft brewery often faced with the challenge of manual inventory handling. The work focused on the development of a tailored web-based Brewery Inventory Management System for the finished products. The main objective was to create an easy-to-use application that incorporates barcode scanning for quick product identification, depletion and addition of stock. The application will be used to monitor the movement of finished products from the store to various sales points within the brewery.
The application was built using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js). Key parts of the application include making a RESTful API for backend operations, a responsive frontend with React, implementing JWT-based authentication, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). An email notification system that uses Nodemailer and Brevo as a delivery service provider was also developed to notify managers whenever stock levels are low.
The result of this project was an easy-to-use web application that meets the immediate needs of small-scale craft breweries looking to effectively track stock, receive automated notifications, and hence, make informed and timely operational decisions.
