Tiivistelmä
Nowadays, the hospitality sector is coming under a lot of pressure to employ more environmentally sustainable practices due to growing environmental concerns in society in general, which has moved consumers towards wishing and demanding a more sustainable experience during their hotel stays. In this thesis, the Panorama Hotel Prague will be used as a case study in which two main perspectives will be addressed: On the one hand, the present level of sustainability at Panorama Hotel Prague will be analysed in order to determine areas of improvement; and, on the other, a realistic plan aimed at improving its overall sustainability performance will be suggested.

The research will be divided into different sections. First, the introduction will provide a comprehensive background on sustainability in the hospitality sector, will outline the main objective of the research and will discuss both the importance of sustainability and the specific problems caused by climate change, particularly in the Czech Republic. The theoretical framework will be based on valid theories, including Triple Bottom Line (TBL) theory, PESTLE analysis and SWOT analysis. During the research, a mixed-methods approach will be used, which will combine quantitative data from questionnaires distributed to travellers from different social media groups and qualitative data from both hotel staff and tourists involved in green travel. Also, the qualitative data will be further enriched by an open-ended question contained in the questionnaire as well as from interviews with hotel staff. The data will be researched in order to assess existing sustainable practices, determine gaps and inefficiencies, and offer possible improvement techniques.

The current sustainability operations in Panorama Hotel Prague will be showed. Eco-friendly activities from other hotels in Prague will be taken into account. Finally, as a result of both the theoretical and empirical frameworks on the one hand, and the data gathered and analysed, a viable plan of action will be proposed in order to improve and optimize the sustainability activities of Panorama Hotel Prague.
