Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the role of Professional Dialogue conflict situations. The work is commissioned by the British educational charity, Academy of Professional Dialogue (AofPD). The main goal is to raise awareness of the Professional Dialogue, especially among students and young people, and to provide an approachable way to strengthen conflict-handling skills.
The research is guided by two research questions: What is Professional Dialogue and how can it be facilitated? What role does Professional Dialogue have in handling conflict situations? The thesis is based on qualitative research that includes five expert interviews, and one workshop held within the AofPD network. The interviews and workshop are supported by theoretical materials such as books and articles on communication and dialogue.
The core finding is that Professional Dialogue is not just a method of speaking, but it is a deeper way of being present and thinking together. The foundational values of listening, respect, suspending and voicing build a safe space for people to connect and develop a shared meaning. This work shows that such an approach can prevent and transform conflicts across different settings, offering both healing and clarity where fragmentation exists.
