Tiivistelmä
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common heel pain diseases that can be seen frequently in the clinical setting. It can be described as the degeneration of the structure called the plantar fascia which is responsible for many biomechanical functions and structures of the foot. Constant occurrence of these micro tears in the plantar fascia will result in many disturbances to the structure which will ultimately lead to pain in the heel. Knowing the anatomy, risk factors, and, most importantly, therapeutic choices for this ailment will help to develop an effective treatment plan.
The aim of this thesis was to provide evidence-based information about plantar fasciitis and increase the knowledge of the physiotherapy students in SAMK. This was achieved by developing an independent learning material to be used at the students own speed with the addition of quizzes to test their knowledge gained by the material. The independent material is available in H5P Moodle platform.
The thesis followed a more broaden content focusing on the anatomy to prevention of plantar fasciitis which the author believes that it will help the physiotherapy students treat patients with more practical understanding of the condition. Several databases were used to collect information such as Google scholars, PubMed, Research gate and various other healthcare sites.
