The impact of resource constraints on employee retention and HR functions : a case study of Company X

Abstract

This thesis examines how resource constraints influence employee retention and HR functions within Company X, a social and healthcare organization. The study explores the effects of reduced resources on employee satisfaction and commitment, as well as HR’s role in supporting staff during such challenges. The topic is highly relevant due to workforce shortages and increasing demands in the sector. A quantitative approach was employed, using an anonymous Webropol survey directed at employees and HR professionals, and supported by analysis of organizational documents. Thematic analysis identified key patterns in employee experiences and HR strategies, providing a clear understanding of challenges and possible solutions. The findings indicate that resource constraints increase workloads, reduce support systems, and heighten stress levels. However, HR initiatives like improved communication and tailored support programs can mitigate these effects. Practical recommendations include investing in employee well-being and creating effective retention strategies to foster resilience. These insights are valuable for Company X and similar organizations.
