Tiivistelmä
This thesis investigates the role of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in reducing emissions and improving air quality in Skopje, one of the most polluted cities in Europe. The research includes an analysis of SAF types and benefits, as well as the challenges and opportunities for their implementation in aviation.
The methodology is based on qualitative research through semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, including policymakers, aviation industry leaders, environmental experts and community represenatives. Findings suggest that SAF can significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing Skopje's urban living environment.
The thesis also provides recommendations for local stakeholders to support the integration of SAF in the aviation sector and highlights the need for further research on long-term sustainability and public awareness.
