Application of wearable devices in elderly chronic diseases management

Abstract

Given the acceleration of global aging, elderly chronic disease management is confronted with challenges such as insufficient continuous monitoring, limited individualized service, and strained medical resources. In recent years, wearable devices, with their capabilities for real-time monitoring and remote feedback, have provided new possibilities for enhancing traditional management models.

This thesis, by reviewing relevant research literature, analyzed the applications of typical products from three perspectives: functional effects, user experience, and practical challenges. The results indicated that these devices play a positive role in continuous monitoring, risk early-warning, and health data feedback. However, the devices lack the ability to integrate data across different diseases. Additionally, there are issues such as digital skills thresholds, applicability limitations, software reliability risks.

Finally, the thesis presents suggestions such as cross-platform data integration, age-friendly design, and "Human + Device" support model to address the above-mentioned issues. Hopefully, the results can provide a useful reference for follow-up technological improvements and application development.
