This thesis explored the concept of onboard medical care for Ro-pax and passenger ships, focusing on the challenges of providing medical services in maritime environment. The primary aim was to evaluate the law side of current practices, identify gaps in healthcare delivery, and propose improvements for medical support on vessels through requirements. The implementation of the study involved a comprehensive literature review supplemented by quantitative research method. The research focuses on maritime professionals with medical duties onboard Ro-pax or passenger vessels. Quantitative approach was instilled to gain a holistic understanding of the onboard medical
practices. Materials included structured questionnaire that assessed the medical knowledge and preparedness of crew members, as well as an analysis of detailing medical incidents aboard ships. The data collected were analysed using statistical software and thematic analysis to identify recurring themes and significant findings.
