Tiivistelmä
High-quality wound care is an essential aspect of healthcare practice, vital for preventing infection and further complications. Aligned with the global scale of wound treatment, Finland has tuned up with the proper use of contemporary wound dressing, which involves keeping wounds moist and clean. The study focuses on changing wound dressing through sterile techniques, post-surgery protocols, correct dressing selection and wound management. Furthermore, it involved pain management and patient education or strategies that promote healing and improve long-term outcomes.
The main goal of this thesis is to create an instructional video for international nursing students demonstrating sterile wound dressing changes post-operatively. In conformity with the Finnish healthcare standards, the video demonstrates the sequential protocol emphasizing sterile technique, proper hand hygiene, wound assessment, modern dressing selection, and patient-centered care. Voiceover narration, text captions, and visual demonstrations were incorporated to support best learning practices.
This study highlighted the importance of evidence-based practices, aimed to guide foreign nursing students preparing to practice in Finland. The video material along with this research study, supplements knowledge to foreign nursing students. Features of good educational video were also utilized while focusing on the best practices in wound care and continuous learning in compliance with the guidelines.
