Internal communication research for Student Union KOE

Abstract

The thesis examined internal communication for the Student Union of LAB University of Applied Sciences KOE. The main purpose of the study was to identify communication practices and structures that could be applied for the client organization. The study also aimed to analyze the current state of internal communication in the board of KOE, identify its strengths and challenges, and gather development ideas to support the creation of internal communication guidelines in the future.

The theoretical framework combined literature on internal communication, peer leadership, and clarified the organizational structure of the client. The empirical part consisted of two surveys: one directed to the board of KOE and another to Finnish student unions. The research applied a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis.

The results indicate that internal communication in KOE is active and open, but challenges remain in consistency, technical problems with the digital platforms, and cross-campus communication. The findings provide practical, research-based suggestions to improve internal communication and support the development of future guidelines.
