Tiivistelmä
This thesis was conducted for Tribe Tampere, our client that supports and connects the local startup community. It examines the meaning of failure in Finnish startup culture and introduces The Failure Canva Tool, a self-reflective tool that helps entrepreneurs turn failure into growth and learning. The purpose was to combine emotional reflection and strategic analysis into a practical tool that supports entrepreneurs in processing their experiences positively and constructively. The research followed a qualitative approach, including interviews with Finland-based startup founders and validation with five teampreneur cooperatives from Proakatemia at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The thesis is grounded in entrepreneurial failure, mindset, and resilience. The findings show that entrepreneurs’ emotions significantly influence their experiences and recovery from failure. These insights guided the redesign of The Failure Canva Tool to include emotional factors at the beginning and end, enabling users to analyse, learn, and identify ways to improve in the future. Validation suggests that the tool is effective, emotionally engaging, and user-friendly, helping users connect emotions with strategic thinking and decision-making. Future actions include creating a digital version, expanding testing with external entrepreneurs, and integrating the tool into entrepreneurial education to support open communication and emotional resilience in the startup environment.
