Tiivistelmä
This thesis is a project aimed at organizing a sober-curious evening designed to provide support for young people aged 18-30 years who have had a history of alcohol and drug addiction in Porin Sininauha. The primary aim of this project is to promote preventive substance abuse and facilitate support for life management among young people through activities in which participants will be given the opportunity to learn how to live a substance-free life and learn healthy life management skills. The project implementation was carried out using a focus group discussion. It consisted of planning, recruiting participants, execution of the event, and evaluation of the findings. The planning phase was conducted by informing the necessary supervisory bodies involved in the project and designing the event. The supervisory body of the Porin Sininauha oversaw informing and recruiting participants. During the implementation phase, the Sober-Curious evening took place in Divergitas, Porin Sininauha with eight sampled participants of ages 18-30 years and six actively participating. After the event, the authors evaluated and analysed the insights from the focus group discussion (FGD) that took place during the event to get the participants’ opinion about their experiences and perceptions of the program. Their active participation in the evening activities was an indication that youths enjoy substance-free activities. Therefore, there is need for sustainable interventions to enable continuity and create a society of substance-free living among young people.
