This thesis explores the gaze of a wedding photographer in the context of client engagement. The study examines these aspects in relation to an artistic process and working methods as an artist and a photographer. By researching the client experiences through a survey and evaluating the photography processes, the study aimed to deepen the understanding of the importance of the client engagement.
The theoretical framework includes the concept of the gaze, brief history of wedding photography and personal philosophy as a wedding photography artist. The practical part of the thesis examines client engagement through themes of trust, genuine client experience and the role of the artist. The aim of the thesis was to represent the significance of a successful client experience in creative and artistic work.
Including the photo series “Kohtaamisia” (2024), exhibited in the Fine Art Degree Show in Gallery Himmelblau in spring 2024, the purpose was to artistically reflect on the experiences of encountering and engaging.
The results indicate that presented existing working methods have been successful. The emergence of trust contributes highly to successful client engagement. Considerate customer experience is a significant part of creative work. These findings contribute to a broader understanding of client engagement in the artistic field, encouraging creative professionals to consider this aspect in their work.
