Tiivistelmä
This Bachelor’s thesis examines the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR 2023/1115) at IP-Agency Finland Oy and studies how complying with the regulation enables the company to continue selling regulated products in the EU market. The main objective of the thesis was to make practical tools that help the company meet the mandatory requirements of the up-coming regulation and to secure its product range and B2B customer relationships. The purpose was to support the case company in preparing for the upcoming obligations and to ensure its ability to operate legally and reliably once the regulation enters into force.

The thesis consists of a theoretical section and a project section. The theoretical section discus-ses the EU Deforestation Regulation, its requirements for operators, and the concepts of compliance, sustainability, and sales, based on relevant literature and official documentation. The pro-ject section describes the development of three outputs created for the case company. The work was carried out through desktop research, analysis of official documents, and review of various guidance provided by Finnish authorities. These methods enabled the identification of the regula-tion’s requirements and the development of specific tools for the company.

The project produced an HS code screening tool, a written Due Diligence system, and a comple-ted TRACES operator registration. These tools allowed the company to identify which products are subject to the regulation, collect and evaluate supplier information, and fulfil its future traceability obligations. The outputs together show that early preparation improves compliance readiness and supports the company’s ability to maintain business continuity.

The results suggest that the project successfully provided the case company with the essential structures needed to meet the new regulatory requirements. Although the outputs were created before the regulation enteres into force, they form a practical foundation that can be updated as official guidance develops. The thesis, therefore, offers the company a functional solution to en-sure future compliance and support sales under the EUDR.
