Kasvatusyhteistyö varhaiskasvatuksen alkaessa: tutustumiskäyntien toteutuminen Mikkelin varhaiskasvatuksessa

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tuottaa tietoa toimeksiantajalle eli Mikkelin kaupungin varhaiskasvatukselle siitä, kuinka tutustumiskäynnit lapsen kotiin toteutuvat Mikkelin varhaiskasvatuksessa. Lisäksi selvitimme syitä, jotka estivät tutustumiskäyntien toteutumisen. Varhaiskasvatuksen ja perheiden välinen yhteistyö on tärkeää ja erityisesti sen merkitys korostuu uudessa elämänvaiheessa, varhaiskasvatuspolun alussa.

Tarkoituksena oli selvittää, kuinka monta tutustumiskäyntiä Mikkelin kaupungin varhaiskasvatusyksiköissä oli tehty suhteessa varhaiskasvatuksessa aloittaneisiin lapsiin. Opinnäytetyön toisena tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa syitä, miksi tutustumiskäynnit eivät välttämättä olleet toteutuneet.

Opinnäytetyö suoritettiin määrällisenä kyselytutkimuksena. Aineiston keruussa käytettiin Webropol-sovelluksella laadittua kyselyä, joka lähetettiin kaikille Mikkelin varhaiskasvatuksen apulaisjohtajille. Aineiston analysoinnissa käytettiin Webropol-sovelluksen omaa suodatinta ja muita työkaluja. Tulokset avattiin sanallisesti sekä kuvilla. Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen viitekehys käsittelee varhaiskasvatusta, kasvatusyhteistyötä, tutustumiskäyntejä sekä osallisuutta ja yhdenvertaisuutta.

Opinnäytetyössä saatujen tuloksien perusteella voidaan päätellä, että tutustumiskäynnit toimintatapana tarvitsevat vielä vahvistusta. Suurin osa varhaiskasvatuksessa ensimmäistä kertaa aloittavista lapsista jää ilman tutustumiskäyntiä. Varhaiskasvatuksen näkökulmasta tutustumiskäynnit lapsen kotiin ennen varhaiskasvatuksen aloitusta pidetään tärkeänä ja perheen osallisuutta tukevana toimintatapana, mutta toteutus on haastavaa. Yleisimmäksi syyksi tutustumiskäyntien toteutumattomuudelle nousi se, että perheet eivät halunneet työntekijää kotiinsa. Vastausten perusteella voidaan päätellä, että Mikkelin varhaiskasvatuksen tulisi entistä paremmin tuoda perheiden tietoon tutustumiskäynnin merkitystä.

Opinnäytetyössä tuotettiin ajantasaista tietoa varhaiskasvatuksen näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyössä saatujen tulosten avulla pystytään kehittämään tutustumiskäyntien toteutusta ja sitä kautta vahvistamaan varhaiskasvatuksen ja perheiden välistä yhteistyötä. Tuloksia voidaan käyttää yhtenevien toimintatapojen kehittämiseen, jotta ne olisivat mahdollisimman yhdenvertaisia jokaiselle perheelle.

The aim of this thesis was to provide information to the commissioner, i.e. the early childhood education services of the city of Mikkeli, on how home visits are carried out in early childhood education in Mikkeli and what were the rea sons that prevented home visits from being carried out. Cooperation between early childhood education and families is important, and its significance is par ticularly emphasized in a new phase of life, at the beginning of the early child hood education. The purpose was to find out how many introductory visits to the early child hood education units of the city of Mikkeli had been made in relation to the number of children starting early childhood education. The second purpose of the thesis was to identify the reasons why introductory visits had not neces sarily taken place. The thesis was conducted as a quantitative survey. The data was collected using a survey created with the Webropol application, which was sent to all deputy directors of early childhood education in Mikkeli. The data was ana lyzed using the Webropol application's own filter and other tools. The results were presented in words and pictures. The theoretical framework of the thesis covers early childhood education, educational cooperation, introductory visits, participation, and equality. Based on the results obtained in the thesis, it can be concluded that introduc tory visits as a practice still need to be reinforced. The majority of children starting early childhood education for the first time do not receive a introduc tory visit. From the perspective of early childhood education, introductory visits to the child's home before the start of early childhood education are consid ered important and a practice that supports family involvement, but implemen tation is challenging. The most common reason for not conducting introductory visits was that families did not want employees in their homes. Based on the responses, it can be concluded that early childhood education in Mikkeli should do a better job of informing families about the importance of introduc tory visits. The thesis produced up-to-date information from the perspective of early child hood education. The results obtained in the thesis can be used to develop the implementation of introductory visits and thereby strengthen cooperation be tween early childhood education and families. The results can be used to de velop consistent practices so that they are as equitable as possible for every family.
