Long-Term Effects of Noise Exposure in Engine Room

Abstract

This thesis examines the long-term effects of noise exposure on maritime workers, with a focus on both auditory and non-auditory health impacts, the sources of noise, and effective mitigation strategies. The study employs a mixed methods approach, both qualitative & quantitative. utilizing surveys, interviews, and noise level measurements to gather comprehensive data. The findings reveal significant health issues related to chronic noise exposure, including hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and increased stress levels. Recommendations for effective noise management practices in maritime operations are provided to enhance crew health and safety.
