Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to investigate what qualities recruiters at animation studios look for in new hires, specifically for entry level positions in the traditional 2D animation industry.
The study was primarily conducted through interviews on video call and email with seasoned professionals currently working in the animation industry. Each one of the interviewees has first-hand experience in recruitment, examining applications, and reviewing portfolios. They provided guidelines and advice on factors applicants should consider when trying to enter the industry.
The thesis covers how to format a portfolio, which traits are sought after in new hires, what skills are required in a production environment, and what steps may be taken to find job opportunities. The advice comes directly from industry professionals and is tailored to serve as a guidebook for readers who aspire to pursue careers as artists, designers, and animators within the traditional 2D animation industry.
