Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores how digital nomadism affects the economic, social, and structural development of Dubai as the rest of the world increasingly work remotely. The more location-independent professionals emerge, the more Dubai uses its well-developed infrastructure, high-level digital connectivity, safe environment, and proper policy measures, including the Virtual Working Program, to become a hub with an appeal. This background makes the city an important case study in terms of exploring the relationship that exists between mobile workers and urban spaces and the factors that compel them to live and work in a space that is made up of flexibility and ambition.

By utilizing a mixed-method technique, including a questionnaire via Google form, and semi structured interviewing, this study can identify the general tendencies and consider the less obvious personal accounts of digital nomads staying in or visiting Dubai. Thematic analysis is a multidimensional method of impact. On the economic front, digital nomads create local entrepreneurship, co-working sectors and innovation-based industries. Their work processes are supported by the high digital infrastructure and public services of Dubai. Although there are networking opportunities, the nomads are experiencing difficulties in terms of high cost of living and limited assimilation to the local people. Politically speaking, the residency program in Dubai is useful in drawing nomads; nonetheless, there are issues of permanence and affordability that need to be addressed.

To sum up, this study proves that digital nomadism suggests several opportunities to Dubai to improve its international status, diversify its economy, and bring a new cohort of professional, mobile workers into this country. At the same time, it highlights the importance of sustainable urban planning, community involvement programs and policy flexibility to ensure that such workers can remain in the area over the long term than temporary business visits. The findings reveal that digital nomads play a major role in the service economy of Dubai, real estate, coworking ecosystem, and promote smart city programs and digital governance systems. The variety of their professions and worldwide relations contributes to the cultural landscape of Dubai and helps it to achieve its goal of becoming a center of innovation-powered developments. The thesis includes recommendations to policymakers, businesses, and digital nomads, and offers fields of research in the future to explore the long-term social and environmental impacts of moving remote-work to rapidly growing urban centers.
