The goal of the work was to redesign the website of Kahvila DoisAmores Oy, a small café in Hämeenlinna, to improve its digital presence, website usability, and design an ordering method that aligns with the client’s requirements. The thesis focuses on applying UI and UX design principles to create a clearer, more accessible, and friendly user experience. The research explores how these principles can enhance accessibility, clarity, and usability, how they shape a brand’s online presence, and which design practices support an intuitive ordering flow.
The theoretical aspect of the work explores UI and UX concepts, accessibility, branding, responsive design, information architecture, and credibility in web design. The thesis also discusses the needs of small businesses in establishing an online presence and the website design process. The chosen approach was the development project method. The work does not include any technical tasks related to programming.
The results of the work include a brand book, wireframes, and high-fidelity mock-ups created in Figma. The new design seeks to highlight the café’s visual identity, emphasize its gluten-free offerings, improve navigation, and introduce a step-by-step ordering form aligned with UI and UX best practices. The design work created for this project will serve as a basis for future implementation in WordPress and usability testing with real users.
