In recent years, Bangladesh was observed to have experienced rapid growth in its startup ecosystem, and sports startups were identified as an emerging sector within this transformation. Fitness centers, sports technology firms, and e-sports platforms were noted to have contributed to economic diversification while also influencing cultural and social development. Through the promotion of physical activity and wellness, these ventures were recognized as important drivers of change in both economic and societal contexts.
The study was undertaken to explore the impact of sports startups on the economic development of Bangladesh. The objectives were defined to investigate their role in job creation, innovation, and diversification of the economy. Trends in innovation within the sports startup ecosystem were analyzed, the investment landscape and funding challenges were examined, and the influence of government policies and regulations on the sector’s growth was assessed.
A quantitative research design was employed, and survey data were collected from stakeholders in the sports startup industry. Structured questionnaires were used to gather demographic information, industry experience, and perceptions of economic contributions. Statistical analysis was conducted to evaluate the impact of sports startups on employment, innovation, consumer spending, and regulatory frameworks. Ethical considerations were maintained to ensure reliability and validity of the findings.
It was found that sports startups positively influenced Bangladesh’s economy by generating employment, fostering innovation, and diversifying market opportunities. Digital technologies such as fitness applica-tions, wearable devices, and e-sports platforms were identified as major drivers of innovation and consumer engagement. However, significant barriers were observed, including limited access to venture capital, inadequate government support, and weak regulatory frameworks. These constraints were shown to have moderated the overall impact of sports startups despite their evident potential.
It was concluded that sports startups in Bangladesh held substantial promise for contributing to economic development and social transformation. To unlock their full potential, policy reforms were recommended to improve access to capital, strengthen regulatory structures, and enhance government support. Future research was suggested to focus on consumer attitudes toward sports startups and the role of e-sports in advancing the industry. Overall, sports entrepreneurship was demonstrated to be a vital pillar of Bangla-desh’s economic growth when nurtured through innovation-friendly policies and investment opportunities
