Tiivistelmä
Maternal mental health stands as a major public health issue. Postpartum period is an important time to pay attention to mothers; some percentage of mothers develop postpartum depression after childbirth which in turn affects mother to infant relationship. Although early detection and intervention are as important, health care professionals still face challenges during recognition and management of the condition.

A qualitative systematic literature review was used to explore HCPs’ experiences in the early detection and intervention of PPD. Including eight qualitative articles published between 2015 and October 2025 within EBSCOhost databases incorporating Academic Search Elite, CINAHL, and MEDLINE while aligning with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. CASP Qualitative Checklist (2023) was used for data appraisal and thematic synthesis method, data analysis was guided by Beck’s Theory of Postpartum Depression. Three key themes were outlined: (1) early detection and screening, (2) management after detection, and (3) barriers and facilitators across the pathway.

Result shows that while the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is an effective tool that helps in screening, effective care depends on empathy, care continuity, and cultural sensitivity. Innovative approaches like telehealth and digital tools also help improve care accessibility and support maternal health.
