This thesis was carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST in the summer and autumn of 2025, during which the work focussed on exploring and implementing a prototype for a Simulation Data Management (SDM) framework called SDMLibrary.
Because simulation data often comes in different formats and can grow very quickly, allowing everyone to manage their data in their own way can make that data difficult to retrieve or even inaccessible if any incidents occur or if that person leaves the institute.
Therefore, SDMLibrary aimed to create a centralised and standardised way of storing and organising simulation data, where all data is stored in the same structure, making it more easily accessible. It also aimed to expand on Datamana previous project completed during an internship in the spring of 2025, which is a GUI for creating parameter files for simulations.
This thesis explored some important concepts regarding the technologies and topics related to the subject, as well as discussing the development process of SDMLibrary.
