The current global decline in pollinator populations makes understanding and managing their habitats increasingly important, particularly as natural green spaces become more fragmented within urban landscapes. This study aimed to investigate the richness and abundance of pollinators in four distinct urban green spaces: Estholmsvägen, Marknadsgränd, Österby, and Kvarnbacken, in Raseborg, Finland. Transects were sampled during the flowering season, recording pollinators and floral resources to capture species richness and abundance.
Methodological and temporal limitations made it difficult to assess seasonal dynamics, even though some sites showed increased pollinator activity during the sampling period. As a result, rather than being definite, the results should be considered experimental. Overall, the study offers a limited but informative overview of urban pollinator activity and emphasizes the significance of floral resource availability, while stressing the necessity of regular, standardized, and long-term monitoring to support evidence-based management of urban and coastal green spaces.
