Tiivistelmä
The transition of WIMMA Lab to WIMMA Capstone created a need to redefine its visual identity and digital presence so that they would better reflect its role as a course integrated into the curriculum. The main objec-tive of this thesis was to design a cohesive brand identity and a user-centered digital environment that support communication among students, staff and industry partners.
Due to the practical nature of the objective, an applied research and development approach was chosen as the methodology. The research consisted of four main phases: 1) background analysis of existing WIMMA Lab materials, 2) the development and conceptualization of new websites and visual elements, 3) the design of visual and user interface (UI) elements and the creation of prototypes and 4) the implementation and evalua-tion of the results in collaboration with the client organization.
The design work focused on creating a new logos, color palette, typography and user interface (UI) structure. Figma was used for visual design and prototype creation, Gitlab for version control and collaboration and MkDocs for website development and publishing. The development process followed an iterative model, which allowed for continuous refinement of solutions based on feedback and testing.
The results was the creation and launch of the revamped visual identity and a functional new website (version 1.0). The results support the launch and communication of the WIMMA Capstone program and provide a sus-tainable foundation for future development. The solutions improve usability, strengthen brand awareness, and enable the continuous development of the digital service within a project-based learning environment.
