The aim of this thesis is to find out how a generation change is working from the beginning to the end, how you should prepare and what kind of alternatives there are to choose between. The reason why I chose this subject is because I have been through a generation change 2012 and got interested in the subject. I’m going to have a real company as an example and compare the results with 2012 and 2016 and find out which year would have given better results and better alternatives. The theory part includes the planning of a generations change, the valuation of a company and the alternatives and the taxation of the alternatives. I am going to write about the most common three alternatives. Because the transferor wanted it to be as cheap as possible for the transferee, the investigation gave the results that the cheapest alternative as gift and the most expensive alternative was to sell it. When I compared to results between 2012 and 2016 it became clear that 2012 was a better choice.
