Tiivistelmä
The increasing number of social media users has led to a scenario in which a successful online strategy includes effective integration with the social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter. Understanding the fundamentals of REST API architecture together with factors that play a key role in building robust web service will create a strong foundation in the integration of a web application with a Social Media API.
As a result, this thesis provides discussion on the fundamental theory and technical analysis of REST architecture and RESTful web services. Following these topics, the RESTful nature of Twitter and Facebook APIs will be discussed.
As part of the thesis, a practical project has been carried out. The project includes building a robust web service using the latest web technologies. Building the web application has created an opportunity to understand the concepts and theories presented in the theoretical section of the thesis.
