Uusiutuvan energia-alan kasvuyrityksen laajentuminen Norjaan

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimii oululainen Wind Controller JV Oy. Yritys tarjoaa asiantuntijapalveluita uusiutuvan energian alalle, ja näitä palveluita ovat muun muassa etävalvonta-, koulutus- ja konsultointipalvelut. Yritys suunnittelee toimintansa laajentamista Norjaan, ja he halusivat tietoa käytettävissä olevista rahoitusvaihtoehdoista sekä investointikohteista ja vientiprosessista. Työn tarkoituksena oli koostaa näihin edellä mainittuihin asioihin liittyen kattava paketti, jonka avulla yritys pystyy lähteä toteuttamaan laajentumisprosessia.

Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää mitä eri vaihtoehtoja yrityksen investoinnille on, ja miten investointi tulisi rahoittaa. Investoinnin kannattavuuden arviointiin luotiin laskentakaava. Lisäksi kuvattiin vientiä sekä vientiprosessin että viennin rahoituksen kannalta. Yrityksen toimiala ei tässä opinnäytetyössä vaikuta rahoitus- ja investointimahdollisuuksiin, mutta toimialaa kuvataan sen omaleimaisuuden takia lukijalle.

Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu kahdesta pääteemasta, joita ovat vienti ja laajentuminen sekä rahoitus. Viitekehys koostuu monista kansainvälisistä sekä kotimaisista teemoja käsittelevistä teoksista. Lisäksi viitekehys sisältää myös teoriapohjaa internet-lähteistä, artikkeleista, haastatteluista ja uusiutuvan energian EU-direktiivistä. Empiirisessä osiossa toteutettiin laadullinen tutkimus, ja tutkimuksen tuloksia sovellettiin yhdessä teoreettisen viitekehyksen kanssa parhaiten yritykselle sopivien laajentumisen vaihtoehtojen kartoittamiseen.

Opinnäytetyön tuloksissa on esitelty tutkimuksessa esiin nousseet investointikohteet, sekä niille sopivimmat rahoitusvaihtoehdot. Vaihtoehdot rajattiin kahteen kohteeseen sekä investointikohteen että rahoitusvaihtoehtojen osalta. Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi myös laskentakaava investointien kannattavuuden arvioinnille. Laskentakaava menee toimeksiantajamme käyttöön, ja sitä voidaan helposti soveltaa eri projekteihin. Kaava löytyy kokonaisuudessaan liitteistä, ja sen toiminta on avattu kattavasti.

Pohdinnassa on esitetty johtopäätöksiä ja mahdollisia jatkotutkimusaiheita. Tutkimuksen jälkeen voidaan sanoa investoinnin olevan kannattava ja strategisesti järkevä. Vaihtoehtoja kuitenkin on monia, ja niitä pitää tutkia pidemmälle ennen varsinaista investointi- ja laajentumispäätöstä. Tämän opinnäytetyön tulokset voivat kuitenkin olla hyödyllisiä ja käyttökelpoisia myös muillekin yrityksille, kuin vain toimeksiantajalle.

The case company of this thesis Wind Controller JV Ltd. The company provides technical consulting services in renewable energy industry. At the moment the case company is planning to expand their business to Norway, and they are in need of information about different alternatives of how to finance their investment, what different options are available in terms of investment, and also about general information about the exporting process. The purpose of this thesis is to build a comprehensive package regarding to the above mentioned aspects, so that the case company can begin to execute the expansion process.

The goal of this thesis was to find out about solutions that are available for the case company’s investment, and how that investment should be financed. In order to evaluate the viability of the investment, a formula was created. Exporting was discussed in this thesis by describing both the export process, and what options there are to finance the export. The company’s field of business does not affect to the finance and investment options in this thesis, but due to the originality of the industry, it is presented to the reader.

The theoretical framework of this thesis is based on two main themes. These themes are exporting and expanding which also include financing the expansion. The framework of this thesis consists of multiple international and Finnish literary sources. In addition, the framework contains internet sources, articles, interviews and also a directive by the European Union regarding renewable energy policies. The empirical part of the thesis was a qualitative research, and the results of the research were applied together with the theoretical framework in order to determine the best solutions about expanding for the case company.

Based on the results of the research, the options were narrowed down to two solutions regarding both investment options and financing options. Another result of this thesis was the formula, created to evaluate the viability of the investment. The formula will be handed to the case company, and they can easily use and apply it to different projects. The whole formula can be found in the attachments, and its functions have been explained comprehensively.

Conclusions and follow-up questions are presented in the discussion part of the thesis. After the research was conducted, the investment can be seen financially and strategically viable. There are other options as well, and they need to be researched further before making the actual decisions about the investment and expansion. In addition to the case company, the results of this thesis can also be useful and applicable for other companies.
