Tiivistelmä
This engineers’ thesis was made for ABB, motors and generators divisions’ sales team. The subject for the thesis was creating an easy to use, excel based sales configurator. The configurator tool is used to create simple, yet descriptive technical specifications for the customer as a part of a sales offer of a motor control panel. The configurator is intended to be used for the new MCP 300 series motor control panels.
The basic electromotor theory that is necessary for understanding the operation and purpose of the motor control panels is explained in this report. Additionally, a description of the creation process of the configurator tool and the purpose of the thesis is included in this report.
The requirements for the configurator were defined in co-operation with ABB sales engineers, and the different versions of the tool were discussed with the sales personnel in order to achieve maximal functionality for the tool.
Due to long delivery times of connection diagrams, a full version of the tool remains to be completed. However, ABB now has a fully functional tool for easy creation of technical specifications, and detailed instructions for updating the tool to the full version when the connection diagrams are delivered.
