This thesis introduces a development process of a ground support equipment (BOOM GSE) for a spacecraft. The BOOM GSE is used to test the Spacecraft’s instruments.
At first main requirements, operation functions and overall the design of the BOOM GSE are described. The BOOM GSE were designed in three main sub-assemblies a Tripod DoF, a LT and a Trolley. Different designers designed the three sub-assemblies separate from each other and the assemblies were mated then in a main assembly.
The Thesis concentrates on the Trolley sub-assembly. The main structure and connected components with description are represented. Inside the Trolley, assembly there is a sepa-rate Interface Jig assembly. The Interface Jig is used to position the BOOM GSE with the Spacecraft MPT (multi-purpose trolley).
To conform rigidity of the Trolley under normal and accidental loads of the BOOM GSE a FEM analysis were made. This thesis shows results from two different real-life scenarios.
Lastly, in the thesis is summarized how the project went. How the project prepares for the engineering occupation. How the client adapted the design in their process.
