Omakuva-työpaja Tampereen Tyttöjen Talolla® : Kohtaamisia kuvien äärellä

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö kertoo Omakuva-työpajasta Tampereen Tyttöjen Talolla®. Tekijä suunnitteli, toteutti ja ohjasi Omakuva-työpajan itse. Työssä pohdittiin Omakuva-työpajan merkitystä siihen osallistuneille tytöille. Pohdinnan alla oli myös, vastaako Omakuva-työpaja erityisnuorisotyön ja tyttötyön haasteisiin ja voiko se myös ehkäistä syrjäytymistä.

Opinnäytetyön tausta-ajatukset olivat tekijälle omakohtaisia. Taustateoriaa haettiin ekspressiivisestä kuvataideterapiasta sekä kuvataidekasvatuksen kirjallisuudesta. Tutkimusote oli fenomenologinen ja tutkimusmenetelmä oli laadullinen. Aineisto koostui Omakuva-työpajassa syntyneistä kuvista, äänitetyistä ryhmäkeskusteluista sekä kuvista kirjoitetuista teksteistä. Myös tutkimuspäiväkirjaan kirjatut havainnot olivat aineiston osana.

Aineiston analyysissä ilmeni, että Omakuva-työpajassa syntyneet kuvat herättivät tytöt pohtimaan omaa itseä, omia haaveita ja mieltymyksiä. Kuvien kautta työpajaan osallistuneet saattoivat tuoda esille sisäistä maailmaansa. Ryhmän vaikutus Omakuva-työpajan vuorovaikutukseen koettiin mielenkiintoiseksi.

Omakuvatyöskentely on hyvä metodi erityisnuorisotyössä ja tyttötyössä. Sen merkitys näkyy oman itsen pohdinnassa. Se on yksi tekniikka, jolla voidaan opettaa oman itsen näkemistä suhteessa ympäröivään yhteiskuntaan.

The aim of the Bachelor’s thesis was to present the Self Portrait Group in the Girls' House of Tampere. The author of the thesis herself planned, produced and facilitated the Self Portrait Group. The thesis examined the meaning of the Self Portrait Group to the participants. The thesis also considered whether the Self Portrait Group meets the challenges of special youth work and girl action and whether it could also prevent social exclusion. The background of the thesis was of personal meaning to the author. The theoretical background consists of literature on expressive art therapy and art education. The research approach was phenomenological and the research method qualitative. The material consisted of the works produced in the Self Portrait Group, recorded group discussions and texts written based on the self portraits. The analysis of the material indicated that the pictures produced in the Self Portrait Group made the participants reflect upon themselves, their own dreams and predilections. Through their works the participants of the Self Portrait Group could make their inner world visible. The participants found it interesting how working in a group affected the interaction in the Self Portrait Group. Self portrait activity is a good method in youth work and girl action. Its significance is seen in the self-reflection. It is one technique of teaching people to see themselves in relation to the surrounding society.
