Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) is investing heavily into teaching methods related to environmental
engineering studies in bachelor and masters level. As a part of this process a new hands on –teaching apparatus
was bought from Savonia University of Applied Sciences (SUAS). Using this kind of a very complex apparatus in
teaching is not only buying the equipment. Maybe more important is to transfer the knowledge how to teach with
these kind on methods. This was the starting point of this thesis.
This knowledge was used in this thesis to create the model and details how to teach students in China using the
same approach. This procedure has to be further developed back in Shanghai to adapt it into the local curricula
and the laboratory equipment that will be used in SSPU.
