The modern world is steadily becoming more conscious of health due to increasing
accessibility of developing technologies. The area and possibilities of their usage
has increased vastly due to the boost of performance of computers and, specifically,
mobile phones as well as improvement of communication technologies, thus making use of the medical technologies more mobile. The objective of this project was
to create a small sized embedded system which registers the data obtained by sensors and sends the data over BLE connection to the phone application.
Delektre LTD is developing a ring which contains the embedded system stated before; this device obtains the coordinates from an accelerometer, the ratios of reflected LED lights from the human skin from a photodiode and the temperature of
skin from a temperature sensor and sends the received data over a Bluetooth Low
Energy connection to the mobile phone with a special software installed in it.
The first working, non-optimized prototype of such a device was implemented in
this project. The device is able to perform the operations described in the previous
paragraphs. The prototype of the software and the electronic design was done by
using a Kinetis® KW41Z-2.4 GHz Dual Mode board, a breadboard and necessary
electronic components provided by Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and Delektre LTD.
