The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyze the next generation of wireless networks: Wi-Fi 6 and 5G. Another aim was to study the end-user experience by using these communication networks. The thesis also gives detailed information about the evolution of wireless networks and their working principles. The theoretical part presents a brief history of wireless technology, giving a technical overview on Wi-Fi 6 and 5G. Secondly, the thesis reports on a project about end-user experience.
The thesis project was carried out through using new wireless technology devices. The devices included Wi-Fi 6 routers, Wi-Fi 6 PC adapters, a Wi-Fi 6 and 5G compatible smartphone and a 5G SIM card. The 5G project was done at different locations. The project consisted of using the 5G network and checking the latency and bandwidth of the network in different scenarios. The Wi-Fi 6 project was carried out using different Wi-Fi 6 devices. In total, two different Wi-Fi 6 routers, two different adapters and a smartphone were used. The aim of the project was to analyze the network properties while using analyzing tool of Wi-Fi 6 servers and clients.
Based on the study it can be concluded that both Wi-Fi 6 and 5G is better in bandwidth and latency than the previous generations of their respective technology.
