Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis was to provide guidelines for implementing successful telecommuting as many organizations were forced to shift to extensive telecommuting. This shift took place practically overnight during March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The thesis explores best practices in telecommuting through a literature review, as well as provides insight from employees and supervisors that telecommuted during the pandemic. The insight was gathered via interviews with relevant people.
Many of the organizations studied for this thesis did not have proper telecommuting policies in place which led to confusion. It was found important to have commonly agreed ground rules in place.
Especially having a telecommuting policy and clear ground rules was found to be important for all stakeholders to know what is expected from them and to avoid conflicts.
The final result of this thesis is a framework which can be used to support implementing a successful telecommuting policy.
