Cyber Security Framework for NAPA Onboard Products

Abstract

NAPA as a maritime software and system provider needs to ensure proven cyber security capabilities before, during and after a system delivery to a ship. Ship owners need to select a classification society for each ship, for insurance purposes. Each Class Society has their own requirements for cyber security compliance, which are based on top level the recommendations and guidelines: Those result in what is called a class notation. These can be used as a framework for NAPA to achieve regulatory compliance. In the study, for Onboard Cyber Security of NAPA, main Class Society’s and corresponding notations are studied and documented for relevancy, necessary documentation from NAPA and for the general procedure of the achievement of the class notation.
